About Flex Pilates
Flex Pilates is run by Emily Crawley. Emily trained as a Stott Pilates instructor in Singapore, and has continued her Pilates instructor training in London with additional courses in pre- and post-natal Pilates, Pilates for osteoporosis and scoliosis, and injury rehabilitation. She has spent the last five years teaching in gyms and studios, as well as classes for corporate and public sector organisations, and private classes for people in their own homes. Flex Pilates relocated to Amman, Jordan for three years, where Emily specialised in prenatal classes, and post-natal parent and baby/toddler classes. Flex Pilates is now based in Gloucestershire.
Pilates is about strength with control and coordination. It aims to 're-programme' the way you use your body by strengthening the muscles required for efficient, aligned movement. This can help improve your posture and awareness of the way you move which can help avoid injuries as well as improving muscle tone and flexibility.
The Stott method of Pilates builds on the benefits of the original Joseph Pilates method, by incorporating a modern understanding of biomechanics, rehabilitation and athletic performance enhancement. The exercises are designed to restore the natural curves of the spine and rebalance the muscles around the joints, to help you take the improved posture and alignment you learn on the mat out into your everyday life. Safety is paramount, and light equipment and modifications are used to make the exercises appropriate for many different body types and abilities, helping people achieve goals from complementing sport-specific training, to reducing aches and pains.
